University of California graduate admissions

Distinguished scholars, a collaborative community, cutting-edge research, as well as innovative and responsive teaching — these values form the foundation of UC Davis.

UC Davis is more than just a campus. Graduate students and faculty are a strong community awash in boundless curiosity, cross-discipline collaboration, and rich diversity. UC Davis is known for standout academics, sustainability, state-of-the-art research facilities, productive laboratories, and a progressive spirit. UC Davis offers collaborative and interdisciplinary curricula through graduate groups and designated emphasis options, bringing students and faculty of different disciplines together to address real-world changes.

Davis is the quintessential college town. The community is safe, vibrant and, for students with children, provides one of the best school districts in California. The campus offers a state-of-the-art recreational facility and performing arts center. The surrounding area offers plentiful outdoor recreational opportunities, including 55 miles of bicycle trails. Davis is just a short drive from some of California’s brightest gems, including the Sierra Nevada mountains, Lake Tahoe, Napa Valley wine country and the San Francisco Bay Area.

The city and campus pride themselves on quality of life. UC Davis is ranked among the top 10 universities in the world for environmental sustainability. The League of American Bicyclists awarded both the university and the city its highest rating for bicycle friendliness, and the Davis Farmers Market is ranked in the top 10 by U.S. News & World Report.

Distinguished scholars, a collaborative community, cutting-edge research, as well as innovative and responsive teaching exemplify the values which form the foundation of UC Davis. Embodying the spirit of collaborative discovery, most graduate programs are organized as interdisciplinary graduate groups, giving students the freedom to explore interests across disciplines. A leader in the environmental, life and physical sciences, UC Davis offers professional schools in business management, education, law, medicine and nursing, and is the only UC with a school of veterinary medicine. The National Research Council ranks the university’s graduate programs among the best in the nation. UC Davis is ranked No. 1 in the world for veterinary science and first in the nation in agriculture and forestry by QS World University Rankings, and was recently tied for first among research universities as the top producer of U.S. Fulbright scholars.
